Claudette Cold Bear

by Irv Korman, illustrated by Sonia Pace

A gentle rhyming story about kindness, generosity, and belonging.

Claudette Cold Bear is a children’s picture book about kindness, generosity, and belonging. Born without fur on a frozen Arctic iceberg, Claudette is a polar bear cub who struggles to stay warm despite the love and care of her parents. As she wonders why she is different, her story unexpectedly travels far beyond the ice, reaching two generous brothers determined to help.

Through gentle rhyme and soft, evocative illustrations, the story shows how compassion and selflessness can bridge great distances and change lives. Claudette’s journey highlights themes of empathy, acceptance, and the power of giving, reminding readers that warmth often comes from kindness rather than circumstance.
